The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State have announced the disengagement of 59 members of staff of the institution as part of reformation processes.
Specifically, the affected workers are workers of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Staff Primary and Secondary Schools.
Addressing journalists at his office, the Acting Rector of the institution, Mr. Gani Ogundahunsi, said the institution took the decision as part of the ongoing re-engineering process taking place in the polytechnic.
According to the rector, the polytechnic was running the staff primary and secondary schools at a loss. He said there was a need for restructuring while the schools would be privatised for better running.
He said, “The staff schools of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic will be privatized and investors are being invited to take advantage of the business opportunity.
“As at now, the cost of running the schools is N74million in one year whereas the total income from the school every year is N4million. This is not sustainable
