FG Fixes Jan 23 For Transmission Of Minimum Wage Bill To NASS

The Federal Government has fixed January
23rd this year as the date to transmit the new
Minimum Wage Bill to the National Assembly
with a view to fast-tracking the
implementation of a new minimum wage for
Nigerian workers.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris
Ngige, disclosed this when he had a meeting
with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour
Congress and its allies in Abuja yesterday
January 8th. .
He assured the labour leaders that the
government will be presenting the
recommendations of the tripartite committee
to the States Security Council in the coming
weeks.
The Labour Unions are demanding that
minimum wage of Nigerian workers be
increased from N18, 000 to N 30, 000.
