The Consul General of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Nigeria, Mr. Ingo Herbert has said that it is important for Nigeria and Germany to strive for the universal values expressed in both countries’ national anthems, which call for justice, peace and unity.
Ingo said this in Lagos at the event marking the Germany Unification Day often celebrated 3rd October as a result of the peaceful revolution that brought about the unity of both East and West Germany in 1990.
Giving his speech, the Consul General who identified Lagos as a vibrant city and Nigeria’s economic power, stressed that Germany is committed to partnering with Nigeria to ensure capacity building and reliability, especially in the area of knowledge of technology.
“Although times are not easy, together with our two governments’ concerted efforts, Germany and Nigeria shall remain truly committed to their visions, even as we need more democracy, human rights, openness, and so.
“Our new President, Frank Walter Steinm eier , spoke about the realities of the world and the capabilities of our countries therein and as we offer toast to our two nations, we can only but wish for stronger diplomatic ties, peace and prosperity and for the well being of our two Presidents”, Ingo submitted.
