The Penalty culprit in the game between the home-base Super Eagles and Benin Republic, Azeez Aremu, is confident Nigeria will qualify for CHAN 2018 in Kenya.
The Squirrels overcame the Nigerians 1-0 in the first leg of the qualifying game played on Sunday Cotonou.
The Akwa United defender is, however, upbeat that the home-based Eagles will make amends in the return leg in Kano next weekend.
“I believe we will beat them very well in the second leg and qualify for the 2018 CHAN,” Aremu is quoted by Complete Sports as saying.
No hard feelings
He also stated that he was not feeling downcast and no hard feelings towards him by the coaching crew and his teammates.
“I am okay. I didn’t feel too bad even the coaches and my teammates are not angry with me,” he added.
The home-based Eagles must beat Benin by two clear goals or more in the second leg in Kano to guarantee qualification for next year’s CHAN.
