Wife of the President Aisha Buhari has expressed shock over the demise of Prof. Babatunde Osotimehin, who until his death, was the Executive Director, United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA).

The first lady sent a condolence message through her Twitter handle on Monday.

She prayed that Almighty God grants the family and UNFPA the fortitude to bear the loss.

“The news of his death came as a rude shock and his passing away is a great loss to Us all.

“Myself and the Future Assured team mourn his demise; he will indeed be greatly missed.

“I pray Almighty God grants his family, the UNFPA the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” she tweeted.

Profile of late Osotimehin

Osotimehin was born on February 6, 1949 in Ogun State.

The late Prof. Osotimehin graduated from University of Ibadan.

He was appointed as the Executive Director of UNFPA on Dec. 19, 2010 after serving as the Federal Minister of Health.

He had previously served as the Director-General, National Action Committee Against Aids (NACA) in Nigeria.
