”The committee had since commenced the distribution of the assorted tree seedlings to the people living with disabilities who are beneficiaries of our N6, 500 monthly allowance.

”There are no fewer than 6,900 of them spread across the state and the state government provides the money for their payments monthly,” he said.

Maidoki explained that apart from complementing the efforts of government in combating the menace of desert encroachment, “planting trees is an act which attacks endless reward from God, apart from replenishing the environment.

”Desert is fast encroaching into the state due to some human and man-made activities and the time to act and combat its menace is now.

”The only way this can be done effectively is by planting trees and stopping its indiscriminate felling for firewood and other economic activities.” (NAN)
